Running for office
Candidates for City Council file with the Saginaw City Clerk. For 2026, the City requires 100 nominating petition signatures filed by Tuesday, July 21, 2026 · 4:00 p.m., along with an Affidavit of Identity. Contact the City Clerk for official petition forms and the full filing packet.
Campaign finance: Michigan Campaign Finance Act applies. Committees register with the Saginaw County Clerk and file reports via the Michigan Transparency Network (MiTN).
Campaign sign rules (City of Saginaw)
Political signs are allowed under zoning rules. Maximum 32 square feet total per lot. All political signs must be removed within 7 days after the election. No signs on utility poles, sidewalks, or public property without permission. See City Code Ch. 153 and Ch. 94 for full details.
